Grace Buford on CNN (video)

I have hardly been active in Second Life anymore but I still attend music shows in-world on a regular basis.  My favourite musician is Cylindrian Rutabaga (Grace Buford in RL). I met Cylindrian  about 2 years ago. She’s become a very dear friend, not just because I love her music but because she is such a nice person.

Recently, she was featured in a CNN show. I wasn’t able to post the video here because one of the drawbacks of wordpress is, you’re not allowed to embed external flash objects. However, I can use the built-in youtube player, so good thing the video is available on youtube now. Yay!

For those of you, who can’t view the video in your country check out the original CNN link

Here is a snapshot I took of the both of us a while ago. She invited me to relax on her piano while she was giving a concert 😀 If you have a SL account and are interested in a virtual live music performance, send IM to me (Jenilia Congrejo). I’ll add you to Cylindrian’s fan group, so you can receive notices about her future concerts.

Grace Buford – Cylindrian Virtually Live

Being the proud owner of an AUTOGRAPHED  CD “Cylindrian Virtually Live”
I just have to blog about it, and it’s about time I did because the CD is available only a limited time. And right now, Grace is informing me there are only 4 copies left, so you better hurry up! 😛

The CD contains LIVE recordings of Grace Buford’s performances in the VIRTUAL world of Second Life where she is known as CYLINDRIAN Rutabaga (Cyl), so the title of the CD “Cylindrian Virtually Live” is quite obvious.

The following tracks are on the CD:
I’ll Be Fine
Bad Weather Friend
Ruby
Dont Recognize the Girl
Into the Water
Fallen out of Love
This Dream
Under the Moon
Black Water Rising
See You Soon
Plain Jane

My favourite is by far “Bad Weather Friend” – Strings, lyrics and vocals are just gorgeous.

Go to Grace’s Myspace page to order the CD, it’s only 11US$ incl shipping
within the US. The CD will be sold out soon, but Grace will make it available on iTunes, Rhapsody and Napster in about 3 to 4 weeks. I will post the links as soon as I get them.

Time Piece

I went to one of the King’s Singers live shows earlier this year. The King’s Singers are a British a-capella vocal ensemble who have a wide range repertoire from classical to popular music. I loved the concert and I highly recommend it. One of their originals is especially fun to listen to. It’s “Time Piece” by Paul Patterson. I could not hold myself back and laughed out loud during the song, not just because of the lyrics but because of their fabulous interpretation. Fortunately, I was not the only one to laugh, so it was just half as embarassing….

Time Piece
In six days God created the world
and saw that it was good
and rested on the seventh day
from all the work that he had made.
Life was good. All was well.
Paradise was looking c00L.
One day Eve said:
“Hey Adam! What’s that you’re wearing on your wrist?”
“It’s a watch”.
It’s the tick and the tock of a man-made clock.
It’s a watch. It’s a clock
tick, tock, shock,
shockproof, waterproof,
digital, luminous.
Paradise is O.K. with a watch to measure the day…..

…to be continued 😛

Relay For Life Photo Expo 2008

From Friday June 13th until Wednesday June 25th we (Relay Raiders Team) organised a Relay For Life Photo Expo and hosted daily live music shows to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The Photo Expo was Claudia Mantis‘ idea and thanks to my t61 connections I managed to line-up lots of great musicians .

The money raised was about L$ 210,000 (US$ 800). Thanks to everyone who contributed to this event. We surely will organise another Photo Expo in 2009 🙂
