See My Freedom Dance

The following line is from my all-time favourite song. I am afraid it won’t be recorded anytime soon but Cylindrian Rutabaga sings it every time she spots me in the audience. She is such a sweetheart.

“Throw away all the bitter fruits of yesterday and fertilize the soil with forgiveness, so love can abide in this garden…” (Grace Buford – Dancing in the Garden of Freedom)

Goodbye

Sometimes I can’t find the right words, and those are the days when I want to give up on my blog and suddenly, I stumble upon a poem or a song and see that someone else has already said what I wanted to say. See also my post from 07/19: “INVICTUS”.

“Goodbye to all that” has been composed/written/recorded by a very dear friend of mine, O. , whose artist name is September 29th, well it’s also her birthday 🙂

September 29th – Goodbye to all that

So I say goodbye to you
And you, and you, too
Goodbye to this and to that
I know I’m not going to be sad anymore

Jeremy Gilchrist – The Devil Can’t Fly

This is a music video for Jeremy Gilchrist’s song “The Devil Can’t Fly”, written in memory of singer-songwriter Nathan Davis. Jeremy is such a talent. The video was shot/edited by himself.

SXSW 2010 Playlist #1

I have listened to about 1 quarter of this year’s SXSW songs, and it’s about time I posted some of my favourites here. Let’s call it “Playlist #1″….. but I can’t promise a “Playlist #2” 😛

Enjoy! (right click to download)

This one’s addictive, it builds slowly up and kicks in at the end:
Hey Rosetta! – New Goodbye

Gorgeous alt-country (see post below about her new album):
Basia Bulat – Gold Rush

Folk from the Faroer Islands:
Gudrid Hansdottir – Stjornur

Instrumental:
ELEW – Mr. Brightside

Australian Pop:
Washington – How Do You Tame Lions

some more alt-country:
Anton Bjorkenvall – Love Will Always get Us Down

Basia Bulat – Heart Of My Own

Basia Bulat’s new album “Heart Of My Own” was released on January 25th. I didn’t take notice until I found her song “Gold Rush” in this year’s SXSW samples.   “Gold Rush” has become an instant addiction to me. Love Basia’s alt-country/indie-folk style.
