Grace Buford – Dancing in the Garden of Freedom (Remix by Doxent Zsigmond)

This one brings back good memories 🙂

Those were the times when I went with my friends to a Grace Buford (Cylindrian Rutabaga) live concert in SL. Nothing could beat this. We were promoting Grace’s music and she played our favourite originals. Here is my top favourite, my all-time favourite, remixed by my good friend Doxii. These days, neither Doxii nor Grace nor I frequent SL but we are always happy to catch one of Grace’s rare gigs online.

Dig the stones from the earth
and pile them on the side,
one by one,
Skilfully crafting a wall
to keep the outside on the outside.
Throw away all the the bitter fruit of yesterday
and fertilize the soul with forgiveness
so love can abide in this garden.

And I don’t want to go
from the place I found my soul.
See my freedom dance through the waves of green and gold.

Water the seeds with tears
from the guilt of all those silent years.
How fragile are the first shoots
as they reach for the warmth of the sun
so love will abide in this garden.

Grace Buford – Not Just A Fragment (Remixed by Coll Andrews)

Grace Buford – Not Just A Fragment (Remixed by Coll Andrews)

This project dates back to January 2010.  My idea was to have one of Grace Buford’s new songs remixed, and who would do it better than Coll Andrews?  Coll used a live recording of “Not Just A Fragment”, made a first draft, and I sent it to Grace. It was only 2 weeks later that Grace officially announced she had given up on her solo career and put the recording of her new CD on hold.

It looked as if nobody would get to hear this remix anytime soon 😦

…but Grace were not Grace if she had not allowed it to put this “draft” on our websites, so thanks for this “Happy End”, Grace 😀

Also thanks to Coll for giving me your permission to blog it 😀

Grace Buford on CNN (video)

I have hardly been active in Second Life anymore but I still attend music shows in-world on a regular basis.  My favourite musician is Cylindrian Rutabaga (Grace Buford in RL). I met Cylindrian  about 2 years ago. She’s become a very dear friend, not just because I love her music but because she is such a nice person.

Recently, she was featured in a CNN show. I wasn’t able to post the video here because one of the drawbacks of wordpress is, you’re not allowed to embed external flash objects. However, I can use the built-in youtube player, so good thing the video is available on youtube now. Yay!

For those of you, who can’t view the video in your country check out the original CNN link

Here is a snapshot I took of the both of us a while ago. She invited me to relax on her piano while she was giving a concert 😀 If you have a SL account and are interested in a virtual live music performance, send IM to me (Jenilia Congrejo). I’ll add you to Cylindrian’s fan group, so you can receive notices about her future concerts.

CREEPY: Damien Rice – 9 Crimes (video)

This has got to be the creepiest video for a FOLK song I have ever seen. It scares the hell out of me but the same time it is fascinating. The video has been on my favourites list on youtube for months, but somehow I forgot to blog it…..

side note:  I wouldn’t even know Damien Rice existed if it wasn’t for Grace Buford and Each Passing Day, whom I am a big fan of and who have covered most of Damien’s songs.

Check out their covers on TheSixtyOne

Grace Buford and Suzen JueL in duet – Hallelujah (2-way relaycast)

What is Relaycasting?

Dolmere Talamasca: “Relaycasting is a term that refers to internet performances where the audio streams are layered on their way to the audience.”
Read more in Dolmere’s blog on relaycast technology.

It’s magic – Grace and Suzen are performing a duet while Grace is in Atlanta and Suzen is in Minneapolis.
Suzen submits her stream to Grace, who routes Suzen’s stream through her recording gear and layers her own additions to the stream. Then Grace broadcasts the result to her streaming server where listeners from all over the world tune in. Thus, Grace is the last one in line and can hear Suzen as she lays her own content on top of Suzen’s stream. Suzen, being the first in line, is performing “blind” (or “deaf” in this case). She can’t hear Grace, that’s why she’s giving the commands like “1, 2, ready, go” to make sure Grace can follow.

It’s live !

…and I won’t mention that Sally Silvera is also in the video 😉 Sorry Sal, *hugs*
