My current addiction:

Chelsea Hotel No.2
Leonard Cohen
(but for some reason I like Rufus Wainwright’s cover MUCH better!)

I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel,
you were talking so brave and so sweet,
giving me head on the unmade bed,
while the limousines wait in the street.
Those were the reasons and that was New York,
we were running for the money and the flesh.
And that was called love for the workers in song
probably still is for those of them left.

Ah but you got away, didn’t you babe,
you just turned your back on the crowd,
you got away, I never once heard you say,
I need you, I don’t need you,
I need you, I don’t need you
and all of that jiving around.

I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel
you were famous, your heart was a legend.
You told me again you preferred handsome men
but for me you would make an exception.
And clenching your fist for the ones like us
who are oppressed by the figures of beauty,
you fixed yourself, you said, “Well never mind,
we are ugly but we have the music.”

And then you got away, didn’t you babe…

I don’t mean to suggest that I loved you the best,
I can’t keep track of each fallen robin.
I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel,
that’s all, I don’t even think of you that often.

This was a benefit song for the victims of the tsunami in Asia in 2004. It cost 5 Euro and all the money went to Asia. I remember having bought the song and listened over and over but I haven’t been able to find a proper English translation so far. It is sung in Latin and somehow Latin seems to me the appropriate language for this song…

I never watched the video until yesterday, I did not even know that video existed.

Sad memories ….

I discovered Ve on TheSixtyOne (t61) about one and half a year ago when I joined that site. I instantly fell in love with Ve’s ambient, smooth, chillout music. Good thing all his songs are for free download on TheSixtyOne (t61) and last.fm.

Recently, another t61 listener (thiefbone) made an animation video for the track “Think of the Dead”. I love it, so it deserves a post on my blog :)

Also, check out thiefbone’s other work

…not really…but….its title is an anagram of Jenilia Congrejo.

listen on t61: Alex Gloworld – Creole Ninja (I Jog)

There is a story behind it that you might want to know.  I follow Alex on twitter and vice versa. Last week he linked to a preview (prelisten) of his new song. However, he did not know what title to choose, so meanwhile he named the file “Wootanklingklang”. I protested…. :P

He uploaded his song to TheSixtyOne the next day… and I LOVE the new title. woot!

Btw, today is Alex’s birthday. Happy Birthday to you, Alex

….not really, I just like numbers with repetitive digits :D

it’s pretty easy to get a play count screenshot on last.fm….

but you need to be lucky to be online at the right time to capture a nice number of your reputation total on TheSixtyOne.

(just another post documenting my music listening stats ….)    :P

Instead of cursing the darkness
Light a candle for where we’re goin’
There’s something ahead worth looking for.
When the light of time is on us
We will see our moment come
and the living soul inside will carry on.

It’s a chance to give new meaning
to every move we make
Through the caverns in the caves
where we come from.

When the light of dawn is on us
We will see what we can be
and the ancient ones can sleep an easy sleep.
In the hallways of the ages
on the road to history
What we do now will always be with us

It’s a chance to give new meaning
to every move we make
In the caverns in the caves
where we come from.

Instead of cursing the darkness
Light a candle for where we’re goin’
There’s something ahead worth looking for.
When the light of time is on us
We will see our moment come
and the living soul inside will carry on.

Light a candle in the darkness
so others might see ahead
Light a candle in the darkness when you go.

“Light a Candle” is my favourite song from Neil Young’s new album “Fork in the Road”

I have hardly been active in Second Life anymore but I still attend music shows in-world on a regular basis.  My favourite musician is Cylindrian Rutabaga (Grace Buford in RL). I met Cylindrian  about 2 years ago. She’s become a very dear friend, not just because I love her music but because she is such a nice person.

Recently, she was featured in a CNN show. I wasn’t able to post the video here because one of the drawbacks of wordpress is, you’re not allowed to embed external flash objects. However, I can use the built-in youtube player, so good thing the video is available on youtube now. Yay!

For those of you, who can’t view the video in your country check out the original CNN link

Here is a snapshot I took of the both of us a while ago. She invited me to relax on her piano while she was giving a concert :D If you have a SL account and are interested in a virtual live music performance, send IM to me (Jenilia Congrejo). I’ll add you to Cylindrian’s fan group, so you can receive notices about her future concerts.
